Asuna is a charming dog who was struggling with her weight and mood when her caretakers decided that her best path forward would be to find her forever home via Northwest Samoyed Rescue.
At every stop along the journey, Asuna charmed everyone she met. On arriving at her NWSR foster home, that also included incumbent Samoyed Kodiak, who was quick to show her the ropes (and some new games to play) in her new environment.
Asuna’s weight issue was diagnosed as rooted in hypothyroidism, so with some proper medication, a more controlled diet, and increasing amounts of exercise (including frequent bouts of “chase the toy” with Kodiak as seen in the video below), her weight dropped, her mobility increased, and her mood lifted.
Asuna’s good moods are contagious, and with a cross-country RV trip on the schedule to attend the AKC National Championship Dog Show in Orlando, her foster family decided to bring her along. Adventure! There she was quick to win the unofficial “Most Charming” award.
The betting line on whether Asuna would prove to be a “foster fail” (our term for the happy occasion when a dog charms its way into a permanent place in a foster home) swung heavily to the “yes” side with the news of that trip, and shortly after the return it was official. Asuna for the win!
