Moss & Kushe

Available to adopt

February 15, 2026

Moss and Kushe are littermates who’ve shared a long road together. Their journey began in a remote cabin in Alaska, led them to the Pacific Northwest, and now — as their owner unfortunately passed away last year — finds this sweet and friendly pair looking for a soft-landing forever home to welcome them in their elder years.

Though older, Moss and Kushe are active, alert, curious and friendly. In fact, they’ve essentially been “reverse aging” in their foster environment as they’ve taken full advantage of its opportunities for increased exercise, excursions and exploration.

Moss and Kushe are well groomed, up-to-date with vet care, socialized, and love meeting new people. Like many older Samoyeds, they’re generally chill, dignified, non-demanding, and on the quiet side, though they do enjoy a good howl on occasion.

While in foster, Moss and Kushe have become fixtures in their community, recognizable on roadside walks, or stroller rides, or even riding on the bus. Their ideal daily walk length is about 3/4 of a mile.

There are some “elder dog” issue to manage, such as attentiveness to bathroom signals, but that’s been improving as they habituate to the rhythms of their foster environment. Moss also has some back-end weakness, but that’s been improving with regular activity in his foster environment as well. Kushe is the more energetic and nimble of the two.

Taking on an older pair of dogs has special challenges, but also special rewards. If you’re the kind of adopter ready and able to open your home to provide a soft landing for Moss and Kushe, we’d love to hear from you.
